Over the past 50 years RBGE staff, in collaboration with Indonesian researchers, have completed almost 30 collecting expeditions across Indonesia. We have extensive experience of the Indonesian research permit application process.
RBGE currently holds 439 species from Indonesia in our living collection, from 63 plant families – a vital conservation resource. Our living collection can be searched here, were you can also find a statement on our Nagoya Protocol compliance.
Our herbarium of over 3.5Million specimens has ca. 2000 type specimens from Indonesia, and ca. 140,000 specimens in total, a world-class resource for floristic and monographic research. We host specialist-curated databases for a number of plant families in Indonesia, with current synonomy and georeferenced specimen information.
